Education
Simon has been a teacher of English, Drama and literacy for students of all ages for over 25 years. He currently works at a further education college in Jersey, Channel Islands, teaching on access courses for young people to get vital qualifications. He also works with students learning English as an additional language and teaches literacy skills to adults.

Alongside his role as Head of English, Simon is studying for a Master's degree in Education, with a specialisation in promoting oracy skills amongst children and young people. Oracy is concerned with expressing yourself through speech in a range of contexts. He promotes this through his work as a research learning lecturer with both colleagues and students.

Through his work, it became clear that the rise of technology and the isolation engendered by the global pandemic severely impacted oracy skills amongst students. As a result, Simon began working with organisations that champion these skills at primary, secondary and tertiary level to promote a building of confidence in oracy. It is a key approach to his teaching and learning delivery.
